李式查拳
English: Lee Family Cha Style
Cantonese: Lei Si Cha Kuen
Mandarin: Li Shi Cha Quan
A popular Northern style of kung fu, Cha Style dates back to the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907). A famous general named Hua Zongqi and his colleague Cha Yuanyi taught a special style of kung fu known as Jiaziquan in a region of Shandong. Both masters were highly regarded, and after their death, their loyal students renamed the kung fu to honour their respective teachers. Subsequently, both Hua and Cha Styles have a very close developmental relationship. Chaquan has ten classical empty-hand sets and has greatly inspired the movements and character of modern wushu. This is the Cha Style as incorporated into the Lee Family System.
